BUYER GUIDE · PRIVATE LABEL

Private-label organic clothing: from brief to branded collection

Private label is more than adding a logo to a garment. It is a controlled development process where material, fit, branding and production standards become recognisably yours. The strongest programmes protect both product quality and the clarity of your customer claims.

Define what makes the product yours

A clear private-label brief sets out the silhouette, construction, fabric composition, fit direction, colour palette, labelling and packaging. If you are building a new range, decide which features are essential and which can remain flexible during sampling.

For organic collections, also define what evidence you need before making any certification or material claim in your own marketing.

Develop a production-ready specification

A production-ready tech pack gives a factory the information needed to quote and sample accurately. It should cover measurements, points of measurement, stitch details, artwork, trims and care-label text.

If you do not have a finished tech pack, begin with the clearest available reference and turn open decisions into a structured development checklist.

Plan labels and packaging early

Woven neck labels, printed care labels, size labels, hangtags, barcode stickers and packaging are part of the finished customer experience. Planning them at the sampling stage avoids late-stage choices that delay production.

Approve before you scale

A sample is not simply a visual preview. It is the reference for fit, construction, materials and finish. Once it is approved, the bulk order should be checked against the same agreed reference and specifications.
